VN-Index narrowed down at the end of the session, foreign investors continued to be net buyers of nearly 300 billion dong in the whole market

Most of the industry groups are under adjustment pressure, but notably, the most affected are still Real Estate and Banking.

Vietnam’s stock market in the first session of the week faced the pressure of correction after having experienced a good week of recovery. There was a time when the main index lost nearly 30 points, but the bottom-fishing demand helped VN-Index narrow the drop towards the end of the session. In terms of breadth, red dominated with nearly 500 losers while green recorded more than 360 stocks. The main factor that prevented the market from breaking out came from pillar stocks, of which only 8/30 stocks in VN30 group remained in green.

Large-caps traded bleakly with a drop of 14.19 points (-1.34%), which was the main reason for the market’s decline. A series of key stocks like VIC, VHM, KDH, HDB, VCB, PLX, TCB, SAB, MBB, MWG, VIB,… dropped from 1.5% to more than 6%, negatively impacting the index. On the other side, only 8 upstream stocks gained, namely POW, STB, GAS, PDR, GVR, SSI, ACB and VNM. In which, POW gained with the strongest margin of 3.24%.

At the same time, in terms of the contribution of the duo VIC and VHM became the main factors causing the market to retreat, these two codes alone made the VN-Index decrease by more than 6 points. On the contrary, GAS, SHB, DGC were more actively traded stocks, ranked in the top “cannons” supporting the index.

Most of the industry groups are under adjustment pressure, but notably, the most affected are still Real Estate and Banking. The downtrend narrowed, many positive industry groups showed green at the end of the session such as Chemicals, Water and gas, Construction materials, Electricity, Securities, etc.

Although banking group was in the red, there were still many names that gained well: SHB (+4.55%); STB (+2.83%); LPB (+1.85%); OCB (+0.75%)… while NVB, VCB, TCB, MBB, VIB, VPB,.. corrected down. Besides, the securities group appeared in green gaining in HCM, VCI, FTS, AGR, SSI, etc.

Notably, the Oil and Gas group had a prosperous gaining session despite the negative movements of the general market. In which, POS, PVC, PVB, PVS, PGS, PVT, BSR, GAS… all went up with a good gain width. Even PVD increased to the full range of 6.97%, becoming one of the 9 rare “purple” stocks in today’s session.

At the close, VN-Index dropped 10.27 points (-0.97%) to 1,051.58 points; HNX-Index dropped 1.43 points to 226.46 points; UpCOM-Index slightly decreased 0.15 points to 80.01 points . Market liquidity went backwards with the total trading value on HoSE reaching VND 9,550 billion; down 34% compared to the previous session.

Regarding foreign transactions, foreign investors continued to accelerate disbursement of Vietnamese stocks . Specifically, today they net bought 295 billion dong in the whole market.

On HoSE, foreign investors net bought 236 billion dong, focusing on collecting VNM (76 billion dong); DGC (55 billion dong); SSI (44 billion dong),.. On the contrary, foreign investors net sold the most in VND with 33 billion dong, followed by VHM and NVL which were also net sold with a value of about 31 billion dong and 22 billion dong, respectively.

On the HNX, foreign investors net bought 54 billion dong, focusing on buying IDC with more than 50 billion dong. Following, PVS, PVI, BAX, etc. were also net bought but not much in value. On the net selling side, foreign investors strongly sold THD, HUT, and SHS for a few hundred million dong each.

On UpCOM, foreign investors net bought about 6 billion dong. In the buying afternoon, MCH was gathered the most with a value of nearly 7 billion dong. On the contrary, they net sold NTV, VTP, and SIP about 600 million dong each.
